Utilizing a multi-faceted approach to providing service, U Health Security seeks to deliver the utmost in safety and security for our patients, staff, and visitors. Annually, U Health Security responds annually to an average of 60,000 calls for services throughout the network. These calls include medical assists, courtesy escorts, alarm responses, and more.

In support of University of Utah Health and the zero-tolerance policy toward workplace violence, U Health Security has implemented strategies for response, case management, risk assessment, and training and education.

Since 2017, the division has grown from approximately 30 officers to 130. U Health Security currently provides services to:

Glenn Smith

Glenn Smith

Director, U Health Security
Glenn began working for the University of Utah in October of 2017 after retiring from a 25 year career in law enforcement. He held the rank of lieutenant and was appointed to serve as department head in the Mayor's cabinet in South Salt Lake, Utah. As a department head, he was vital in the development of the the Community Connection Program, which aimed to improve the quality of life for residents and businesses utilizing volunteers, donations, and federal block grant money. During his time with UHealth, Glenn has overseen the growth of personnel that has quadrupled in size, and the expansion of UHealth Security into specialty clinics and community health centers.

Jennifer Roberts

Jennifer Roberts

Administrative Manager
Jennifer started with U Health Security in 2019. She has over 18 years of human resources experience, as well as fiscal management experience. Jennifer obtained her certification in Human Resource Management from Michigan State University in 2003. She served in a subcontractor position as a records manager for the United States Army. Jennifer is involved in the onboarding process for new hires in addition to budgeting, purchasing, and serving as a liaison for personnel matters.

Brian McCollum

Brian has been with University of Utah Health Security since 2014. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was an instructor in nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare. He also worked for 20 years in public safety and security in Las Vegas. Brian had assignments as a K9 handler and training instructor. He also served as an OSHA safety director and as security director for a large casino. He is responsible for the largest division within UHealth Security. His responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, alarm audits, and uniformed operations.

Darin Sweeten

Darin Sweeten

Operations Manager
Darin is a law enforcement veteran with 23 years of service at the South Salt Lake Police Department, retiring with the rank of lieutenant. Darin held positions as a training coordinator, SWAT team leader, investigations, and public information officer. Darin also volunteered for 13 years with the Special Olympics Utah as a Liaison for the Law Enforcement Torch Run Program. He served as a Board Member, Deputy Director, and State Director within this organization. Darin manages security teams at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, University Orthopaedic Center, Greenwood Health Center, and Westridge Health Center.

Chris Snyder

Training/Professional Standards Manager
Chris is a workplace violence prevention specialist and a certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Senior Instructor. His team teaches and facilitates training for security, clinical and non-clinical staff. He is also responsible for policy development and training compliance for UHealth Security. Chris is a graduate of the 239th session of the FBI National Academy and the FBI Intermountain Executive Command College. He retired from the South Salt Lake Police Department in 2014, where he served as Chief of Police for his final seven years

Keith Livingston

Keith Livingston

Specialized Services Manager
Keith oversees the Security Investigations Unit, Risk Assessment team and Security Dispatch. He has over thirty-years of law enforcement and security experience. Keith served 22 years in local law enforcement working a variety of specialized assignments which included; Investigations, Major Crimes, Special Weapons and Tactics, Internal Affairs, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and Crime Scene Management. Keith left Law Enforcement in 2007 and began contracting with the Federal Government. He has worked in fifteen different countries training and mentoring our international law enforcement partners working on the Global Anti-Terrorism Assistance (GATA) program.

David Kelly

Operations Manager
David was born and raised in South Africa where he worked in the hospitality industry for twenty years. This included working for an international cruise line before eventually moving to Florida. He obtained his Firefighter I & II as well as his EMT at Coral Springs Fire Academy. He then worked for the Panama City Fire Department for four years before moving to Salt Lake City where he has been a member of the UHealth Security Team for the past four years.
